As you are all well aware, Corona virus (COVID-19) is posing a serious health risk across the globe and we all need to do our part to reduce the spread of the disease. The health and safety of our patients and staff is the utmost priority. The Victorian Government has taken a firm stance on closing down all non-essential businesses.
The sharp increase in recent Corona Virus diagnoses is clear that we must all act together to reduce the spread and flatten the curve. So rather than argue as to whether or not osteopathic treatment is essential, we feel it is important to close our doors until further notice.
While the seriousness of the virus shouldn’t be underestimated, there is currently no need for alarm, and we look forward to re-opening the clinic when it is safe to do so.
Tips for the time at home for adults, kids and families:
SELF-CARE IS NOT CANCELLED!
Movement as Medicine: Movement is a mood-lifting, immune-boosting, superpower. Be sure to include movement in every day. Consciously get outside. Nature is epic medicine.
Sleep: 7-8 hours a day is wonderful.
Limit Media Consumption: News once a day is enough. You’ll still likely get more through conversation. Avoid screens in the bedroom. You will be rewarded with better sleep and lower levels of stress.
Focus On Well-being: Let this situation inspire a health kick!
Macro Nutrients: Eat a whole foods diet, mostly veg, fruits, nuts, and seeds. Limit processed foods, sugar, caffeine and alcohol.
Micro Nutrients: Consider adding these research-supported supplements for their antiviral properties such as Zine, Vit C & Sunshine or Vit D.
Drop The Little Things: Let go of how you thought this year was going to turn out. Let it be the way it is, and take anything non-essential off your to-do list for now.
Support Local: Keep supporting your local shops and restaurants by ordering take away if your favourite local is still open. Surfcoast WholeFoods and Peaches are apparently doing home delivery option for essentials. Stream local music on your preferred streaming service and support local artists.
Get in the Garden: plant some herbs, perennials, spinach, silver beet etc.
Meditation: Through mindfulness practice we learn to notice the power and effect of sustained attention. What you give your attention to, will likely become the master of your reality.
