So What Is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a unique system of treatment and evaluation that uses a hands on approach, working alongside mainstream medicine to improve your health. Osteopaths are recognised by all private health insurance funds and can be partially covered by Medicare if referred by your GP.
Osteopathy was founded in 1874 in the USA and is the oldest of the modern manual medicines. Australian Osteopaths undergo a minimum of 5 years of study at university and are trained in the diagnosis, treatment, management and prevention of musculo-skeletal disorders.
Sequence Osteopathy has established relationships with local GPs and likes to work alongside them to ensure continuity of health care. You may be eligible for coverage under Medicare if your condition has existed for longer than 6 months and your GP refers you for treatment under the Chronic Disease Management Program. Ask your doctor if you meet the criteria.
Osteopathy is especially helpful in the maintenance of posture and the treatment of pain, and utilises the body’s unique capacity to heal itself when in correct anatomical alignment.
