Are you suffering from a Clicky Jaw or TMD?
The jaw is anatomically referred to as the temporomandibular joint or TMJ and when there is an issue it is called TMD – or temporomandibular dysfunction or disorder. Jaw pain can be incredibly debilitating for those who experience it and unfortunately there is no cure-all for this condition. Osteopathic treatment can help release tight muscles and stiff joints around the jaw, head and neck to help restore freedom of movement and provide significant pain relief.
Injury to your jaw or the muscles of your head and neck, like from a heavy blow or whiplash, may also lead to TMD. The key muscles are temporalis and masseter which tighten with clenching and chewing. Our osteopaths may also treat the deep internal (pterygoid) muscles of the jaw via specific internal techniques.
