Are you suffering from Bursitis?
A bursa is a fluid filled sack (like a water balloon) that allows the muscles and tendons to move smoothly over their adjoining bones. When the bursa is inflamed, each time the muscle wants to contract it rubs on the already painful bursa. It can be quite a sharp pain and will restrict joint range of motion and affect your sleeping position. Hip bursitis is very common in women and is classically felt as sharp pain laying on your side in bed. Shoulder bursitis is associated with painful and restricted arm movements overhead.
Common Bursitis complaints that present to our team are:
- Hip – Trochanteric Bursitis
- Shoulder – Subacromial Bursitis
- Knee – Patella Bursitis
- Elbow – Olecranon Bursitis
